Davidson Owumi, Chief Operating Officer of the NPFL, announced that Friday night fixtures would be introduced under the quoted parts of the NPFL Framework and Rules.

According to Owumi, the introduction of Friday night matches is intended to broaden the league’s value chain by providing a platform to stimulate local businesses in areas where matches would be staged.

“Football is a part of the entertainment industry and generally, people get off work on Fridays, hence we want to capture this segment of the weekend market by offering them safe places beyond what they become accustomed to,” the NPFL COO explained.

The 2023/24 season also saw the reintroduction of NPFL games to television.

NPFL matches are now being aired live over the internet via the Propel Sports Africa NPFL-Live platform.
