Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi Admission 2023
This is to inform the public that admission has begun for the various undergraduate programs offered at the Federal University of Technology in Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom State, for the academic year 2022–2023.
The Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi (FUTIA) seeks to produce High-Quality Health and Medical Professionals. These will have a wide range of knowledge, abilities, and value. And they will be able to improve institutional capacity for disease management and surveillance and close the gap in national medical research.
The Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi Admission 2023 is open.
Admission Requirements
The admission requirements into the undergraduate programmes of the Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom State, shall be as follows:
- All admissions into the University shall be through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB);
- For admission to 100 Level (via UTME), candidates must: obtain five (5) credits at SSCE (or equivalent) in relevant subjects at not more than two (2) sittings, including credit passes in English Language and Mathematics; and attain acceptable points in UTME in relevant subjects;
- Those who meet the requirements for admission shall be subjected to a screening interview to be conducted by the University.
- The University shall not accept transfer students until at least the first two years of its existence. In addition to meeting the general admission requirements, prospective students must also satisfy the faculty and departmental requirements.

About the Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi
The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN), in June 2021, approved the establishment of two new Universities of Technology to be sited in Akwa Ibom State in the South-South and in Jigawa in the North-West geopolitical zones of Nigeria.
Prior to the establishment of these two universities, the government had established four universities of Technology in Yola (North East), Akure (South West), Owerri (South East) and Minna (North Central).
The six universities of Technology are satellite institutions of a proposed apex National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Abuja, the nation’s capital. The NIT is envisaged as a postgraduate center devoted to research and innovation, drawing the best graduates from the six universities of Technology and other outstanding graduates from within and outside Nigeria.
The university in Akwa Ibom State is sited in Ikot Abasi.
On February 16, 2022, the Principal Officers of the Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi were appointed by the Federal Government as follows: Professor Leo Daniel- Vice-Chancellor, Mrs Offiongita Essessien Nkang – Registrar, Dr. Mbobo Erasmus Mbobo – Bursar and Professor Phillip U. Akor -Librarian.
