Since September 16, when a consignment of 1.500 kg of skunk, hidden in flour and headed for London, was intercepted at the Skyway Aviation handling company (SAHCO) export section of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos, the suspect, Obiorah Chigozie Samuel, has been on the agency’s wanted list. The arrest of Nworah Adaugo Precious, his goods agent, occurred.

When Obiorah personally delivered another tranche of 2.00 kg, hidden in boxes, to the airport for transportation to the UK on Thursday, September 28, he entered the agency’s dragnet, presumably believing that the 1.500 kg consignment had passed through. Obiorah stated that before to entering the illegal drug trade, he was a shoe salesman in Lagos.

In the meanwhile, on Friday, agents from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command of the organisation stopped a container truck travelling from Lagos to Kano in the Gwagwalada neighbourhood of the FCT. The vehicle’s registration was BD G41 XM.

A total of 1,188 kilogrammes of skunk, concealed behind toothpaste boxes and loaded at Owo, Ondo State, were found inside the truck; Amafan Fattison, the driver, was taken into custody.

Similarly, last Wednesday, NDLEA agents in Bayelsa State found 432 kg of the same material inside an abandoned J5 bus at Saipem Road in Opolo, Yenagoa. The car was also removed from the scene and sent for additional examination.

Ado Mai Unguwa, 70, a grandpa, was apprehended on Saturday in Dindere village, Tofa Local Council, with 143.2 kg of skunk. Meanwhile, in Enugu, agents that same day retrieved 110.6 kg of the same material from a locked-up store at Aria New Market.

On Saturday, September 30, agents in Lagos also broke into the infamous Idi-Oro drug enclave in Mushin. There, they confiscated 212.5 kg of cannabis sativa that belonged to a wanted drug king.

Presently, 104 kilogrammes of skunk have been found by NDLEA officials in Kwara State from a Toyota Camry vehicle in the Offa region of the state. On Monday, September 25, a 25-year-old Chadian man named Mohammed Ibrahim was apprehended at the Mafa checkpoint in Borno State with 11.8 kg of the same material.

In the spirit of interagency cooperation, the state police command in Plateau transferred four suspects. This were, Jusuf Akim, Frank Gah, Jackson Ejeh, and Joseph Utsu. As well as 1,978 kg of cannabis that was found on them to the state command of NDLEA. Additionally, on Wednesday, September 27, NDLEA agents in Kogi State detained Ifeanyi Odoh, a suspect, after finding him in possession of 4.03 kg of cannabis sativa and 59,867 tablets of opiates, including tramadol, in the Idah region of the state.
