The rapper, whose actual name is Michael Render, was seen being brought in handcuffs to an undisclosed place at Crypto.Com Arena, the site of the Grammy Awards, in a video that one of the outlet’s reporters shared on social media.

An arena security official was quoted by The Hollywood Reporter as stating that the rapper was being held for a purpose unrelated to the awards ceremony.

Killer Mike tweeted a sequence of emoticons to symbolize his three trophies and a clean sweep along with the words, “Thank God,” presumably while he was being held.

“I consciously set out to make the best album in the world,” he told journalists backstage.

“I consciously set out to tell the story of a young Black boy growing up on the west side of Atlanta so that the world can see that our narrative isn’t just victimization and losing, but we can win, we can thrive and prosper.”

Killer Mike took home the Grammys for best rap song and performance for “Scientists & Engineers,” as well as best rap album for “Michael.”
