The 26-year-old former Kawasaki Frontale player joined the south coast team in 2021. And then played on loan at Belgian team Royale Union Saint-Gilloise for the 2021–2022 season.
In 52 appearances for Brighton since making his debut in August 2022, he has 13 goals and 12 assists.

Brighton qualified for the Europa League after finishing sixth in the previous Premier League season.
In eight top-tier appearances this season, Mitoma has three goals and three assists.
Before their encounter against champions Manchester City on Saturday, Brighton, who were apparently interested in signing him, sit in sixth place.
