With a hamstring injury that has kept him out of action since December, the England defender has only made nine appearances this season in yet another season marred by injuries.
But James looks to be getting close to playing again as Chelsea prepares for a last match against Liverpool on February 25. The Blues full-back made a suggestion to that effect on Thursday via an Instagram post.

Chelsea’s injury problems have been apparent this season; notable absences include Ben Chilwell, a senior leadership figure and fellow England full-back, as well as summer arrivals Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia.
However, considering that James’ hamstring injury is recurrent, his extended absence has raised concerns at Stamford Bridge. Due to hamstring and knee issues, the 24-year-old also missed a large chunk of the previous campaign.

James’ return will hopefully not be a false dawn for Chelsea fans and manager Mauricio Pochettino, as any more setbacks would tragically cast doubt on his long-term future in the game. Malo Gusto is a solid backup for the Blues at the club and has been one of the unsung heroes of Chelsea’s extravagant spending under Todd Boehly. That is at least some consolation for the Blues.
