Albabtain Cultural Foundation Scholarship for Masters at University of Malta

Albabtain Cultural Foundation Scholarship: For the academic year 2023–2024, the University of Malta is accepting applications for the Dual MA in Mediterranean Security and Conflict Resolution.

In keeping with the objective and mandate of the Centre, this scholarship aims to support the training of conflict resolution and peace practitioners in nations that have recently or currently experienced armed conflict.

The Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter institution for Peace and Conflict Resolution, the oldest and biggest conflict resolution institution in the United States, and George Mason University jointly offer the MA in Conflict Resolution and Mediterranean Security. The fundamental goal of this curriculum is to give students a variety of theoretical and practical tools that will enable them to handle conflicts at the micro and macro levels efficiently. Additionally, the Mediterranean environment is highlighted specifically as a setting in which these talents are particularly beneficial.

The program is a full-time, intense one that necessitates staying in Malta. It starts at the end of 30 May 2023, and it ends at the middle of 30 May 2023.

Students with the MA in Conflict Resolution and Mediterranean Security can:

  • Carry on a systematic and ongoing study of the nature, origins, and types of conflicts
  • Analyse the international relations and security scenarios of the Mediterranean and in particular the nature, types and origins.
  • Develop the requisite processes and conditions for the productive resolution of conflicts
  • Apply the theories, skills, processes and techniques to empirical case studies that focus on the Mediterranean.

Degree that has been approved by the Centre for the Study and Practice of Conflict Resolution Board as being relevant. Students are expected to have a first degree with second class honors or equivalent in any of the following fields: sociology, anthropology, political science, law, international relations, human rights, development studies, diplomacy, psychology, history, philosophy, religious studies, or languages. This is due to the multidisciplinary nature of conflict resolution.

The applicants must be citizens of nations that have recently or currently experienced armed conflict, have a history of academic success, and have a passion for and dedication to conflict resolution. Strong motivation to pursue postgraduate courses will also be seen favorably, as will prior experience in conflict resolution and similar-fields. Additionally, the candidate should be proficient in cross-cultural communication. Interested parties may submit their applications via email along with their curriculum vitae, two letters of recommendation, proof of citizenship (such as the front page of their passport), and a motivational letter outlining their reasons for applying for the scholarship and how their background aligns with the requirements for the scholarship. Applications are accepted through May 30, 2023.

Eligibility for Albabtain Cultural Foundation Scholarship

  • A degree that has been approved by the Centre for the Study and Practice of Conflict Resolution Board as being relevant.
  • Students are expected to have a first degree with second-class honors or equivalent in any of the following fields: sociology, anthropology, political science, law, international relations, human rights, development studies, diplomacy, psychology, history, philosophy, religious studies, or languages. This is due to the multidisciplinary nature of conflict resolution.
  • International applicants who have not attended school in Malta must provide proof of their English language. Proficiency at the required level on an internationally recognized certificate.
  • The applicants must be citizens of nations that have recently experienced armed conflict. Have a history of academic success, and have a passion for and dedication to conflict resolution.
  • Additionally, the candidate should be proficient in cross-cultural communication.
