“The UAF confirms that it will not take part in any competitions involving Russian teams,” it said. It also urged other UEFA members to abstain from watching games involving Russian teams.
The governing body of European football promptly banned all Russian teams from events last year. This was In reaction to Moscow’s incursion in Ukraine. However, on Tuesday, the ban was loosened and Russia’s national under-17 squad was allowed to return.

“The Ukrainian Association of Football strongly condemns the decision by UEFA to return U-17 teams from Russia to international competitions,” the UAF said in a statement late Tuesday.
“The UAF confirms that it will not take part in any competitions involving Russian teams,” it said.
When UEFA announced the decision, they said that youngsters shouldn’t be penalised for the conduct of adults. They aslo said and that a “generation of minors” was being denied the opportunity to compete.
It did, however, state that Russian teams would not be permitted to play on Russian soil and that the nation’s song, flag, and uniform would not be permitted.
