Since taking over the Lionesses in September 2021, Wiegman has had a significant influence.

In 2022, the Dutch coach guided England’s women to victory at the European Championship held at Wembley.

She led England to the World Cup final the previous year, but Spain defeated them 1-0.

Under Wiegman’s direction, England defeated Brazil in the inaugural Women’s Finalissima last year.

The 54-year-old took home the 2023 FIFA award for best women’s coach on Monday night.

“I am so happy to have the chance to lead England through to 2027 after an incredible two and a half years,” Wiegman said.

“Looking forward, we have unfinished business and I know we are capable of even more, although nothing will come easy.”

Qualification for the Euros starts in April, with the finals being played in Switzerland next year.

“Our game is becoming so competitive at the top level. I relish that opportunity and can’t wait to start the Euro qualifiers, followed by the World Cup,” Wiegman said.

After taking over for former Manchester United defender Phil Neville in the England team, Wiegman can now concentrate on coaching the Lionesses in their defense of the 2025 European Championship and maybe competing in the 2027 World Cup.
