AFCON: Cote d’Ivoire Forward Sets Sights on Revenge Against Super Eagles: According to Cote d’Ivoire striker Sebastian Haller, the Elephants seek to get revenge for losing to the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) group stage.
On Sunday at the Alassanne Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, the hosts and Super Eagles will compete for the AFCON trophy.
In the group stage, Emerse Fae’s team lost to the Super Eagles 1-0.
Haller countered that this time around, the Elephants want the crown and retribution.
“We are playing the final against Nigeria. It is a great nation. It is heavy. They beat us in the group stage,” Haller said to BeIn SPORTS.
“But we are already motivated to go and lift the trophy on Sunday in this stadium in front of the Ivorian people. We have revenge to take on Nigeria.”
