As a result, he will miss the last group game against Cape Verde on Monday as well as any subsequent last-16 match.

Having drawn their first two matches in the competition, the seven-time African champions must defeat Cape Verde to secure a spot in Group B’s second round by default.

They might also qualify as one of the top third-place teams, setting up a last-16 match at San-Pedro on January 28.
