Breaking News: Court sacks Ghandi as Soun of Ogbomoso
The Oyo State Government was directed by the court to hold a new election for the position of Soun.
This came about as a result of a lawsuit that competitor Kabir Laoye initiated.

In his lawsuit, Laoye had said that Olaoye was not qualified to be chosen as Soun and that, as a result, his appointment was unlawful.
Laoye’s argument was accepted by the court, which declared Olaoye’s appointment to be invalid.
In addition, the government was told by the court to hold off on filling the post until after it rendered a decision.
On September 8, 2023, the Oyo State Government named Olaoye as the next Soun, and the same day, he was enthroned.
