The 36-year-old would have joined Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League if he had made the transfer.
However, Messi ultimately made the decision to leave Paris Saint-Germain and sign as a free agent with the Major League Soccer team in the summer.

Messi has now disclosed that he was given the choice to join a Saudi Arabian team or go back to Barcelona.

“My first option was to return to Barcelona, but it was not possible. I tried to return, and it did not happen.
