Officials said that the rapper, whose actual name is Daniel Hernández, was taken into custody on Wednesday and is currently being held in a jail in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic.

Other details were not immediately accessible, and it was not apparent if 6ix9ine had legal representation.

A judge will make a decision on Thursday regarding the rapper’s detention in jail or bond release while the inquiry is ongoing.

With his arrest, 6ix9ine has ran afoul of the law once again.

He was detained in October at a Dominican Republic seaside hotel on suspicion of assaulting a local music producer. At the producer’s studio, Hernández was recording with his partner, Yailín la Más Viral, a rapper from the Dominican Republic.

Previously charged in the US with using a violent gang as a “personal hit squad,” 6ix9ine managed to get out of jail by testifying against the East Coast gang Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods.

He was beaten by many individuals in a Florida gym in March 2023.

Tekashi 6ix9ine and Nicki Minaj worked together on the multiplatinum hit song “Fefe” in 2018. The pop charts peaked with it at number three.
