The mother described what transpired, saying that after her daughter told her about the affair and confronted her husband, she hurried back home.
She claimed he expressed regret and acknowledged his error.
Damilola said that three days after she told her husband about the affair, he sent their kids on an errand. And then he assaulted her with a machete.

“I asked him why he returned early, he said they hindered him from going to work. He dashed into the bedroom and returned with a cutlass.
“He said that he wanted to go and clear his site but he locked me inside the bedroom and attacked me with his fist. He used the cutlass to slash my skin and every other part of my body. He used a hammer to hit my head.
“Neighbours could not rescue me because the door was locked. I was rushed to the hospital after I managed to open the door.”
Witnesses reported that the woman appeared weak and lifeless, resembling a corpse. The medical staff reportedly believed she had been brought in dead before realising she was still breathing.

They said that despite being taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, she was sent to another hospital. This was because of the severe injuries her husband’s escape had caused.
SP Funmilayo Omisanya-Odunlami, a spokeswoman for the Ondo Police, confirmed the event and stated that the suspect was still being sought by the police.
