Midway through the first half of Sunday’s Premier League match, the Brazil international was replaced by Leandro Trossard, dealing a severe blow to the Gunners’ injury line.

Shortly after Martinelli appeared to have given Arsenal the lead with a brilliant finish, he fell down, but the “goal” was controversially disallowed after a VAR review for an offside during the build-up.
After Trossard replaced him, the 22-year-old was spotted going into the tunnel to get more care. The extent of his injuries is yet unknown.
Speaking on Martinelli’s challenge, he said: “He felt something, he felt it in his hammy [hamstring] so he will need to be assessed.”
The Gunners had to wait until the second half to score the first goal, but they still put up a strong display throughout. Saka set up Trossard for a well-executed corner routine, and the striker found the bottom corner for the first time, leaving Jordan Pickford with little chance.
“Believe me, we spoke about it. It’s been a long time but we knew about it and there’s reasons why we couldn’t win here. I think we played an incredible game, we kept them quiet and we dominated the game and we’re extremely happy to go away with a clean sheet.” Arterta added
Martinelli might now be forced to miss Sunday’s North London Derby against Tottenham and is a huge worry for Arsenal’s match against PSV on Wednesday night.
Since arriving to the Emirates Stadium from Ituano in 2019, Martinelli has been a vital player for Arsenal, so Arteta will be quite concerned about the injury. Across all competitions, he has accrued 136 appearances, 33 goals, and 11 assists.
