Mauricio Pochettino Breaks Silence on Moises Caicedo Transfer Saga:  Liverpool shockingly outbid Chelsea at an auction for Brighton’s top summer transfer target, establishing a new British record value of £111 million.

But Chelsea isn’t giving up, and they’ve improved the personal terms they’re offering Caicedo in the hopes that he’ll turn down a move to Anfield. EnoughInfo.com

When asked about the transfer controversy in his pregame press conference on Friday, Pochettino politely declined to add fuel to the flames. During a press conference in Cobham, the Argentine stated:

“You know me very well, I don’t talk about players that do not belong to us. I am so respectful.

“What I can tell you is that we are working very hard to add more players to the squad. [Players that have] quality and of course when we have an update for you, the club will do but at the moment, I do not want to talk about players that don’t belong to us.

“Like any club, we are working very hard to add more quality and to of course improve the team and the squad. I am so happy with the way we are doing things with [co-sporting directors] Paul [Winstanley], Laurence [Stewart] and the owners; the relationship is really, really good and really close. So far, so good.”

When asked what pieces he is missing from his current roster, Pochettino elaborated:

“Many midfielders have left the squad and we have different options.

“We are working really hard but always being really respectful with the names that are there, the clubs and the players.”

Due to a knee injury sustained on a poor pitch in the club’s final preseason encounter in Chicago, Chelsea will be without French forward Christopher Nkunku to begin the season.

Pochettino wants to replace the £52 million RB Leipzig forward who will miss four months with an injury. The manager said: Transfer News: Liverpool agree to a British record £111m transfer fee for Caicedo

“We feel very sorry about him. He was very important for us. Now it’s about not to think too much about the injuries and to be positive about when he can be back with us as soon as possible.

“We are working in the market also, trying to find a solution, maybe short term, medium and long term to find the right profile for the team.”
