Two men beat cab driver to death, dump body inside bush in Ogun State
Igwe Monday, a commercial driver in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, is reportedly beaten to death by two individuals who are now under arrest.
It was said that one Jonah James, who had stated to have provided Monday a car for business use, had hired the accused, Ogunsola Oluwatomisin and Odusina Olukunle.
James enlisted the suspects to find and apprehend him because he thought Monday had stolen his car.
The accused admitted that they had apprehended the dead and severely beaten him, according to a statement made by Abiodun Alamutu, the Commissioner of Police for Ogun State, noting that “his corpse was dumped at a bush near Faari Motorpark Ilese-Ijebu.”
Alamutu claims that on September 23, an informant found Monday’s body where it was disposed of and alerted the police’s anti-kidnapping squad at a pin-down location.
He clarified that Ogunsola and Odusina were taken into custody as a result of the police inquiry.
The CP further said that even though the investigation is ongoing, a “intensive hunt to apprehend him and other fleeing suspects have been launched” since James, the main suspect, is now at large.
