Scholarships in Dutch Colleges and Universities for International Students
Leiden University Excellence Scholarships (LexS)
Outstanding non-EEA/non-EFTA students enrolled in a full-time master’s degree program at Leiden University are eligible for the Leiden University Excellence Scholarship Programme (LExS).
Deadline For Applications: 1st Feb/1st Oct (annual)
Eligible countries: Non-EEA/non-EFTA* nationals
Type: Master’s degree
The Leiden University Excellence Scholarship program has 3 awards:
- € 10.000 of the tuition fee
- € 15.000 of the tuition fee
- Total tuition fee minus the statutory tuition fee
The LExS does not offer complete financial support. Non-EEA LExS holders still need to show “evidence of sufficient money” with their application for a student visa or residence permit.
Students must have received top grades in their prior coursework that are pertinent to the Master’s degree they are applying for. The fact that the student graduated in the top 10% of his or her prior study program is an evidence of this.
Remember: that this information is just provided to show the level of competition; verification of ranking is not necessary.
With the exception of students applying for the LLM Advanced Studies programs or the MSc in International Relations and Diplomacy, for which there are no nationality restrictions, applicants must have a non-EEA/non-EFTA* passport and may not be eligible for support under the Dutch system of study grants and loans (Studiefinanciering).
*All EU countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland)
